As the demand for Sports Utility Vehicles increases, Ford are looking to make their impact on the large SUV sector in Europe.

The Ford Edge has been in production since 2006 in North America but this is the first time that the vehicle will be available on the European market. The 2015 Edge will be the second generation of this vehicle and will have some specific features exclusively for the European market.

There will only be one diesel engine available and this will be the new Ford 2.0L DW10 engine. This engine will be available in two variants which comply with the latest Euro VI emissions standards. There will be the 178bhp version with 149g/km CO2 emissions and comes fitted with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The other option is the 207bhp with 159g/km CO2 emissions which is fitted to the 6-speed automatic gearbox.

This vehicle is set to compete with the likes of the Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60. The price is yet to be revealed, but we would expect the Titanium trimmed version to cost over £30,000. This vehicle is extremely spacious inside, so much so that in terms of space, it rivals the likes of the Audi Q7 but with 5 seats. We look forward to seeing how well this vehicle is going to do in the European market.
