The new Citroen C4 Cactus has been unveiled and this vehicle has some interesting styling, both interior and exterior. The C4 Cactus is crossover SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) based on the C4 small family car.
At the Geneva Motor show in March 2014 the C4 Cactus is to be officially revealed. The Adventure edition is the one being used at the Geneva Motor show and it has extra quirks to it including bull bars, mud terrains and camouflage paint.
The C4 Cactus will compete with the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and is expected to cost around £15,000. It is expected to go on sale towards the end of the summer.
The C4 Cactus has a part aluminium lightweight platform which makes the vehicle weigh in at just 965kg. This is 200kg lighter than the C4 on which it is based. Not only does it have a lightweight platform but has a folding down bench for front seats and pop up rear windows which help keep the overall weight down.
As we mentioned, the front seats are a fold down bench, but the bench is only capable of seating two people. Another interior quirk is the passenger airbag located on the roof to free up dashboard space.
The exterior design has possibly the biggest quirk of them all with its side 'air bumps'. These are air filled pockets with a plastic cover which are designed to absorb small collisions. It is certainly an interesting looking vehicle which is sure to raise a few eyebrows.
The C4 Cactus is to be powered by both a diesel and petrol engine. The expected diesel engine is the 1.6L turbo diesel used in the C4 which is expected to offer around 91mpg in terms of fuel economy. The petrol engine expected to be used is the 1.2L and both of these engines offer less than 100g/km of CO2 emissions.
