The latest Renault SUV has been seen in testing recently. This Renault is set to compete with the likes of the Nissan Qashqai with which it shares many of its components and is also built on the same platform. The new Renault SUV has been in testing and is set to make its official debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show early next year. This vehicle is built on the CMF (Common Module Family) platform which the Nissan Qashqai also shares. As part of the Renault-Nissan partnership, there is set to be 14 Renault and Nissan models built on this platform which was released last year. The new Renault SUV is heavily based on the latest generation Nissan Qashqai sharing many of its components and having the same architecture. It will also use several of the same powertrains, whilst trying to keep the vehicle distinctly Renault. It is expected to go on sale around the Autumn of 2015. Laurens van den Acker is the design boss at Renault and he had this to say about the new Renault SUV: “it is developed in strong collaboration with Nissan, but with a careful eye on not taking anything away from either side”. Conceptually, this car will not challenge conventions. We want to hit the same sweet spot of head and heart that we did with the Captur.” Do you think the new Renault SUV can compete seriously with the Nissan Qashqai?
