The Renault Kwid concept car was released at the 2014 New Delhi Auto Expo on Wednesday 5th February.
The Kwid is the first Renault concept car to be unveiled outside of Europe and is aimed at the emerging markets of India, Brazil and Russia.
This is a very eye catching vehicle which has some extravagant styling and some extraordinary technological features. Concept cars give the manufacturer an opportunity to express their imaginative and creative abilities, and Renault have certainly done this with the Renault Kwid.
The Kwid is a concept SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which is aimed at the younger market. It is a very robust looking vehicle with its chunky exterior design and oversized wheels.
The interior design is very unique, with its “web” like interior design. It is very white, and makes it very light looking. This design gives it great ventilation through its concentric perforations. There is rear air conditioning with the control positioned behind the drivers seat. The steering wheel is positioned in the centre of the vehicle and there is a tablet located to the left of the steering wheel.
The most amazing feature of the Kwid concept SUV is the flying quadrocopter drone located on the roof. This quadrocopter can either be operated manually or automatically and can help with parking, detecting traffic jams and/or obstacles ahead and can also be used for taking photographs. This is said to be the first technology of this kind in the automotive world.
Some of the other technology available on the Kwid is: electric opening doors, LED lighting and electric controlled front seats. The Kwid has a 1.2L turbocharged engine with a dual-clutch gearbox.
