Fiat 128 Overview
The Fiat 128 is classed as a small family which was produced by the Italian automobile manufacturing company Fiat. This vehicle was in production from 1969 to 1985 and was available in saloon, hatchback, estate and coupé versions. For a small family car this had a surprisingly large amount of space in the cabin and the boot due to the innovative design of a front mounted engine with front wheel drive, taken from the British built Mini. This car won the European Car of the year in 1970 and went to be a very popular selling car across Europe. The 128 was the first small family car to have this type of engine and independent suspension, setting the benchmark for future design. It might not have had the best driving position but was comfortable and they had good performing engines. Does this sound like your experience of this vehicle?

Fiat 128 History
The Fiat 128 is the car responsible for starting off the now common transversely mounted, front wheel drive engine which requires so much less space than the previous standard engines. The 128 was in produced in 1969 and took a lot of its design ques from the 124 and 125. The only version that had the larger 1.3L engine was the Rally version. The Coupé version was released in 1971. The 128 range received a facelift in 1972 which mainly affected the front grille design. Again in 1976 there were some alterations made to the exterior design, some parts of the interior and mechanical parts. Production ended in 1985 when the 128 was replaced by the Fiat Ritmo.
The Fiat 128 was available in 1.1 or 1.3L petrol engines. These engines were not too bad in terms of fuel economy for a car of this era. It offered up to 23mpg.
