Honda Life Overview
The Honda Life is classed as a kei car which is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Honda. This vehicle has been in production since 1971 under several different variations. The Life is marketed in Japan, and has not been offered in many markets outside of Japan. A kei car is designed to meet strict specifications in Japan and is mainly focused on economy. The name was used for a short time in the early 70's and was introduced again in 1997, and has been used since. These little cars have very small engines, are not very spacious and lack equipment, but they are built for economy and city driving. They are reliable and well built little cars. Honda Life History
The first generation (1971-74) was offered in sedan and wagon variants and replaced the Honda NIII360. The engines on this version was considered well refined and good economically. Production ended in 1974.
The second generation (1997-98) saw the re-introduction of the Life name after a 23 year absence. This version was a replacement for the Honda Today and was more of a MPV tall wagon car.
The third generation (1998-2003) was created to comply with new Japanese regulations for kei cars. This meant this version was slightly larger than its predecessor.
The fourth generation (2003-08) received a lot of improvements over the previous version. It was made more aerodynamic, better safety features and lower emissions. The fifth generation (2008-present) is the current version on the market.
