Overview

The Hyundai Matrix is a mini MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) which is produced by the South Korean automobile manufacturing company Hyundai. The Matrix was in production from 2001-2010 and was replaced by the Hyundai ix20 that year. It was known as the Matrix in the European and South East Asian markets and the Hyundai Elantra LaVita in Australia. It is known as the Hyundai Lavita elsewhere. It was designed by the Italian design company Pininfarina. The Matrix has plenty of interior space and is fairly comfortable. It is a reliable vehicle which is reasonably well equipped and has fairly decent safety features. It is not the most stylish looking of vehicles and is a poor ride with lower than average performance. It does not handle very well and its replacement, the ix20 is a vast improvement over this vehicle. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Matrix?

History

The Hyundai Matrix was first released in 2001 and was built in South Korea up until 2007. From 2007-2010 it was produced in Turkey and was then replaced by the greatly improved Hyundai ix20. This vehicle shares many of its mechanics with the Hyundai Elantra and is a 5-door hatchback. The diesel version was only available in Europe by popular demand for this type of engine. The Matrix was facelifted in 2005 and again in 2008. The 2008 facelift gave it a new front end and looks similar to the new i30. The Elantra had some interior alterations and new wheels. The vehicle ceased production in 2010.
