Nissan Cube Overview

The Nissan Cube is classed as a mini MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) which is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Nissan. This vehicle has been in production since 1998 over three different generations. The first two were only sold on the Japanese market, with the third generation also being sold in Europe and North America. The Cube is a strange looking vehicle which you either really like or hate. Despite its controversial looks, they are good to drive, handle well and are fairly reliable. They are not the most practical vehicles but they do have a not too bad amount of space and are reasonably comfortable. Some models are very well equipped. Does this sound like your experience of the Cube?

Nissan Cube History

The first generation (1998-2002) was first introduced in 1998 and was built on the same platform as the Nissan Micra. This vehicle was an instant success in Japan and this was the only market the Cube was available.

The second generation (2002-08) altered the look of the Cube, giving it a more 'box' like shape. Although this was only available in Japan, there were quite a few exported into the UK.

The third generation (2009-present) was the first version of the Cube to officially go on sale in both the European and North American markets. It received mixed reviews due to its controversial styling. This is the current version on the market.

Model Types

Fuel Economy

The Nissan Cube is currently available in 1.5, 1.6 or 1.8L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines. The 1.5L dCi diesel is the most economical, offering around 60mpg which is pretty good. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically? The age, fuel type and engine size are determining factors when considering fuel economy.

The Nissan Cube is currently available with either 5 or 6 speed manual and CVT gearboxes. The first two generations were also available with a 4 speed automatic gearbox.
