Vauxhall Rascal Overview
The Vauxhall Rascal is classed as a minivan and is produced by the British manufacturers Vauxhall Motors, which is part of GM (General Motors). This vehicle was built in conjunction with Suzuki and was also marketed as the Suzuki Supercarry. The first version of the van was marketed as the Bedford Rascal and then later changed to the Vauxhall Rascal. These little minivans have a surprisingly good amount of room in the rear, are great economically and are very reliable. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Vauxhall Rascal?
Vauxhall Rascal History
The Bedford Rascal was the first name used for this vehicle in the UK and production begun in 1986. It was produced at the IBC vehicles plant in Luton, next to the main Vauxhall factory. The Suzuki Supercarry version was marketed across continental Europe. These vehicles could hold a surprising amount of weight, 550-575kg depending on the version.
It was in 1990 that this vehicle was rebadged as the Vauxhall Rascal due to the Bedford name being discontinued. In 1993 the Rascal production was moved to Japan where it was continued in production until 1999, which was the last year that this vehicle was produced and sold in the UK.
The only engine that was available for the Vauxhall Rascal was the 1.0L petrol and it was very economical for an engine on a vehicle of this type. How did your Rascal perform in terms of fuel economy?
