Volvo C70 Overview

The Volvo C70 is classed as either a convertible or coupe depending on the version. This car is produced by the Swedish automobile manufacturing company Volvo Cars. This car has been in production since 1997 up to the present date. It has been available as a coupe, soft-top convertible and the latest version is available as a hard-top coupe convertible. The latest version of this car has a very neat fold away roof, but it makes access to the boot pretty tricky when the roof is down. They are very stylish and well built cars with a quality interior design. They do have the poor handling associated with most Volvos. These vehicles are well refined and are a good choice compared with rivals from Audi and BMW. Does this sound like your experience of the C70?

Volvo C70 History

The first generation (1997-2006) was the first Volvo to be designed without the traditional ‘Boxy’ look associated with Volvo cars. Its main aim was to provide a stylish looking family car without compromising performance. The design for this car was based on the Volvo 850 and was the first modern convertible to be designed by Volvo. This version was available in either convertible or coupe variations. The convertible version had structural problems which led to a poor drive and handling issues.

The second generation (2006-13) was designed on the same platform as the S40 and is a much more stylish and rounder looking car than its predecessor. It has a hard retractable roof which fits into the boot and has some great safety features. In 2011 it had an exterior facelift, mainly affecting the front end design and the rear lights.
