Fiat Scudo Overview
The Fiat Scudo is classed as a mid-sized van or an MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) depending on which version. These vehicles are produced by the Italian manufacturing company Fiat. The MPV version is known as the ‘Combinato’ and can seat up to seven people. These vehicles are the same as the Peugeot Expert and the Citroen Jumper, as it was a joint venture between Fiat and PSA Peugeot Citroen. The Fiat Scudo is cheaper to buy than its sister Peugeot/Citroen versions. They might not be as powerful as rivals such as the Ford Transit Connect but are definitely value for money. Does this sound like your experience of the Scudo?
Fiat Scudo History
The Fiat Scudo is the mid sized van in the Fiat range. It fits in-between the smaller Fiat Doblo and the larger Fiat Ducato. The first generation (1995-2007) was built as a replacement for the Fiat 900. The design for this vehicle is based on the Fiat Ulysse and shares almost the exact same parts as the Peugeot and Citroen versions of this vehicle. A makeover version was introduced in 2004.
The second generation (2007 to present ) is the current version in production. This version comes in a number of different models, has great safety features and has some useful options. These are pretty good economically due to the aerodynamic design of the vehicle.
The engines available for the Fiat Scudo are 2.0L petrol and there are 1.6, 1.9, 2.0 and 2.1L diesel engines. The diesel engines are the best in terms of fuel economy, offering an average of about 40mpg. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically? Remember to consider age, fuel type and engine size when thinking fuel economy.
