Hyundai Sonata Overview
The Hyundai Sonata is classed as a mid-sized family car and is produced by the South Korean automobile manufacturers the Hyundai Motor Company. This car replaced the Hyundai Stellar inn 1985 and is still in production today. These cars are very cheap to buy and are spacious and comfortable. They are practical cars which are very reliable as well. Most versions are well equipped but most competitors offer better value for money on their mid-sized family cars. These cars come with an outstanding warranty and offer some good safety features. The latest version is a real improvement and well worth considering. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Sonata?
Hyundai Sonata History
The first generation (1985-87) was only available in a handful of markets, not Europe or USA.
The second generation (1988-93) was introduced to more markets and took over from the Hyundai Stellar as their large family car.
The third generation (1993-98) was the first version to be offered on the European market and was available as a 4-door saloon. This version had an exterior makeover in 1996.
The fourth generation (1999-2005) was designed on a new platform which was shared with the Kia Optima.
The fifth generation (2004-10) was the first version to offer a diesel engine and was the first time an all aluminium engine was used.
The sixth generation (2011-present) is the current version on the market and has a total new style. This new design did not get received well in South Korea, but was elsewhere.
The Hyundai Sonata has been available in several different engines over its life time including: 1.8, 2.0, 2.4, 2.5, 2.7, 3.0 and 3.3L petrol and a 2.0L diesel engine. The 2.0L diesel engine is the more economical of the available engines offering up to 48mpg. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically? The fuel type, engine size and age of vehicle are determining factors when it comes to fuel economy.
