Vauxhall Nova Overview

The Vauxhall Nova is classed as a supermini car and was produced by the British car manufacturing company Vauxhall Motors. Vauxhall Motors is the British subsidiary of the German company Opel, and this car was marketed as the Opel Corsa. The first generation (1983-93) of this car was marketed as the Vauxhall Nova and then the UK joined the Corsa name, with the Vauxhall Corsa in 1993. This car replaced the Vauxhall Chevette, giving Vauxhall a good competing car in this class. These cars were very popular in the UK; they were very economical, cheap to buy but were not the greatest to drive with their poor handling. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Vauxhall Nova?

Vauxhall Nova History

The Vauxhall Nova (1983-93) was the same car as the first generation Opel Corsa. These cars are front wheel drive superminis which were available as 3-door hatchback or 2-door saloons. The Nova replaced the Vauxhall Chevette which was struggling to compete in this class due to its ageing build, and the Nova was to become an instant success in the UK, remaining popular right until it was replaced with the Vauxhall Corsa in 1993. In 1990 the Nova had a facelift, with new bumpers, grille and headlights. The interior was freshened up but the Nova was falling behind the modern rivals in this class and was replaced with the new well designed Corsa.
