Volkswagen T5 Overview

The Volkswagen T5 is classed as a light commercial vehicle which is produced by the German automobile manufacturing company Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, which is a sub-division of The Volkswagen Group. This vehicle has been in production since 2003 and replaced the previous T4. This vehicle is still in production today, but some claim that it is not as good looking as the previous version. However, that is a matter of opinion, as this version is well built, has low running costs and is well refined. These vans are known for their excellent safety features and having some great technology. There are some expensive versions but they do hold their value well. Volkswagen T5 History

The Volkswagen T5 was introduced in 2003 as a replacement for the T4, and is the fifth generation of the Transporter vehicles. There are over 100 variations of the T5 including LWB, SWB, taxis and minbuses. There are several different people carrier versions which seat between 6 and 9 people. These versions are the Kombi, Shuttle, Caravelle and Multivan.

In 2009 the T5 received a facelift which has some innovative features including the first DSG gearbox for a vehicle of this class. This is the current version on the market.

Fuel Economy

The Volkswagen T5 is available in the following engines: 2.0 or 3.2 petrol and 1.9, 2.0 or 2.5L diesel engines. The 1.9 and 2.0L diesel engines are the more economical, offering around 40mpg which is not to bad. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically?
