Volkswagen Vento History

The Volkswagen Vento was introduced on the European market for the third generation Jetta, as the Jetta name was discontinued. It was released in 1992 and the reasoning behind the name change was to try and appeal to younger drivers. It was decided to stick to the Jetta name in North America due to popularity. This version was more of an evolution of the previous version but with some real improvements in aerodynamics and suspension. The vento name was discontinued in 1999 as the fourth generation was introduced under the new name Volkswagen Bora.
