Audi RS4 Overview
The Audi RS4 is classed as a compact executive sports car which is produced by the German automobile manufacturing company Audi. Audi is part of the larger Volkswagen Group and the RS4 is the sports version of the Audi A4. The RS4 has been available in three different stints: 2001-01, 2006-08 and 2012-present. The first and third versions are only available in Avant (Audi's estate version) where as the second version was available as a saloon also. These cars have superb performance, are great to drive and also have really good handling. They can be expensive to buy and are very greedy on fuel. The current version of the RS4 is the most powerful ever and they have plenty of space and great comfort. Does this sound like your experience of the RS4?
Audi RS4 History
The first generation (2000-01) RS4 was introduced in 2000 as a replacement for the RS2 Avant. This version of the RS4 was only available as an Avant and shared its design platform with the A4 and S4. They were built on the Volkswagen Group B5 platform.
The second generation (2006-08) was introduced after a 5 year absence and was built on the Audi B6 platform. This version was available in both saloon and Avant. There was also a cabriolet version for this generation.
The third generation (2012-present) makes its return, built on the Audi B8 platform and only available as an Avant. This is the version currently in production.

Fuel Economy
The Audi RS4 first version had a 2.7L petrol engine and the second and third versions have a 4.2L petrol
engine. The current 4.2L engine offers around 26mpg which is not that great, but fuel economy is not the first thing you take into consideration when you think of the RS4. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically?
