Kia Sorento Overview

The Kia Sorento is classed as a mid-sized crossover SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) and is produced by the South Korean automobile manufacturing company Kia Motors. The first generation Sorento was a mid-sized SUV with the latest second generation version being a crossover SUV. This vehicle is available as a 4x4, is good off-road and they have plenty of room inside the cabin with a huge boot for storage space. Some of the diesel engines are really strong but these are not the best vehicles to drive. The ride is not the best and they are pretty expensive vehicles to buy and run. They are not the highest build quality and are not very well refined. Sound anything like your Sorento?

Kia Sorento History

The first generation (2002-09) was built as a mid-sized SUV which had 4x4 automatic as standard. There are also rear-wheel drive versions as an option and a sports version which has a 5-speed manual gearbox. In 2007 this vehicle had a makeover which changed some of the available engines and gearboxes. The lights were also altered and there was a new grille for the 2009 model.

The second generation (2009-present) changed the class of the Sorento to a mid-sized crossover SUV as its platform was based on a car. Both the first and second generation Sorento’s scored top marks in the safety tests. This is the current version on the market.

Fuel Economy

The Kia Sorento is available in the following engines: 2.4, 3.3, 3.5 and 3.8L petrol, 2.0, 2.2 and 2.5L diesel and 2.7L LPG engines.
