Toyota Hilux Pickup Overview

The Toyota Hilux Pickup is classed as a pickup truck and is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturers Toyota Motor Corporation. The Hilux pickup truck has been in production since 1968 across seven different generations. The Hilux has been available in many forms over the years, with the pickup version being the most popular. The latest version of the Hilux Pickup is decent to drive with well built cabins. It does not have the greatest safety features and they are not very well refined. The driving position isn’t that good but they are very well equipped and reliable. They are expensive and you would be better with a more conventional 4x4. Does this sound anything like your Hilux Pickup?

Toyota Hilux Pickup History

The first generation (1968-72) introduced the Hilux as another pickup truck in the Toyota range. The second generation (1972-78) had some interior and exterior upgrades and was a bit larger than the previous version. The third generation (1978-83) saw the introduction of the 4WD version. The fourth generation (1984-89) gave this vehicle a much more modern look.

The fifth generation (1988-98) was available as a LWB (Long wheel Base) version and this was the last version of the Hilux in the USA. The sixth generation (1998-2005) was a popular version of the Hilux Pickup. The seventh generation (2005-present) gave this vehicle a contemporary look and is the current version on the market.
