Volkswagen car parts have always had a reputation for quality and reliability and it seems that this is something the manufacturer has carried over into its latest model - the up!
Released only a few months ago, the small car has already won a host of plaudits.
And last week it added to this growing list of accolades perhaps the most important award of them all - being named the World Car of the Year 2012.
The prize is voted for by motoring journalists from around the world, whose aim it is to select the year's best new car based on merit, value, safety, environmental impact, significance, and emotional appeal.
Beating 33 rivals to first place, the up! received the prestigious award at the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center last Thursday (April 5th).
Dr Martin Winterkorn, board chairman at Volkswagen AG, said the award recognised the car's "efficient use of space, safety, motoring fun and environmental compatibility".
