Citroen C2 Overview

The Citroen C2 is classed as a supermini car and replaced the Citroen Saxo in 2003. These cars are produced by the French car manufacturers Citroen who are part of the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group. The Citroen Saxo was replaced by the Citroen DS3 in 2009. It was rated highly in the Euro safety tests, 4 out of 5 stars. The C2 is aimed at younger drivers with its good looks, cheap prices and good fuel economy. The Citroen C3 supermini car is the version aimed at the small family car sector. The C2 doesn’t have much room in the rear and has some reliability concerns. Does this sound like your experience of the Citroen C2?

Citroen C2 History

In its first year the Citroen C2 was awarded the best European hatchback of 2003. There are plenty of models of the C2, from the entry level ‘base’ version to the ‘GT’ version. In 2008 the C2 had a bit of a makeover which meant a newly designed grille and bumpers. The C2 was known as being a much safer car than the Citroen AX which it replaced, and the better trim level you bought, the better the safety features. The C2 never had the same marketing as its sister cars the C1 and C3. Due to this it wasn’t promoted as well and this affected sales. In 2009 this car was discontinued and replaced with the Citroen DS3.

Fuel Economy

The different engines available for the Citroen C2 are the 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6L petrol, and the 1,4L diesel version. The most economical of the available engines is the 1.4 diesel which offers up to 69mpg which is really good economy. Which engine does your C2 have and how does if perform economically? Remember to consider the fuel type, engine size and age of the vehicle when considering fuel economy.
