Fiat Croma Overview

The Fiat Croma is classed as a large family car which is produced by the Italian automobile manufacturing company Fiat. This vehicle was in production from 2005 to 2011 for the latest version, but there was also a Fiat vehicle marketed under this name between 1985 and 1996. the first version was a liftback and the second was sold as an estate or large MPV. The latest Croma comes very well equipped and are good performance vehicles. They have a very spacious interior which is also pretty comfortable. They are not the best to drive or are not the best looking vehicles, but they are very practical. They don't hold their resale value well or handle well, but they have some good safety features. Does this sound like your experience of the Croma?

Fiat Croma History

The first generation (1985-96) was part of a joint venture between quite a few different companies. It was built on the type four platform which was also marketed as the Alfa Romeo 164, Saab 9000 and Lancia Thema. The three other cars were marketed as executive cars but the Fiat Croma was classed as a large family car. In 1991 this car had a major exterior update and was then discontinued in 1996.

The second generation (2005-11) Croma was introduced after a nine year absence of the Croma nameplate. It is based on the GM Epsilon platform and is a totally different type of vehicle than the previous version. It is available in either estate or large MPV versions and they scored 5 out of 5 stars in the Euro safety tests. Production of this vehicle ended in 2011 to be replaced with the Fiat Freemont.
