Fiat Marea Overview

The Fiat Marea is classed as a large family car and is produced by the Italian automobile manufacturing company Fiat. This car is available as a saloon and an estate. The estate version is known as the Fiat Marea Weekend. These two cars are the different body styles variants of the Fiat Brava and Bravo. In Europe this vehicle was in production from 1996-2002 and carried on until 2007 in Brazil. The Fiat Marea is spacious and comfortable inside and they handle pretty well. They are not of the best build quality and there are much better choices in the large family car class. Does this sound like your experience of the Marea?

Fiat Marea History

This car was produced in 1996 as a replacement for the Fiat Tempra and also as the estate and saloon variants of the Bravo and Brava. This car never became very popular in Europe, especially the saloon version. It was a popular vehicle in Brazil and continued in production until 2007. When the Fiat Brava and Bravo cars were discontinued in 2001 to be replaced with the Fiat Stilo, the Marea ceased production the following year in 2002. The estate version of the Marea, the Marea Weekend was replaced with the Stilo Multiwagon and the lack of popularity for the saloon version meant that there was no replacement for this version.

Fuel Economy

The Fiat Marea was available as 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0L petrol engines and the 1.9 and 2.4L diesel engines. The 1.9L diesel engine was the most economical of the available engines, offering up to 52mpg which is quite good for a car of this class. Which engine did you have and how did it perform economically? Remember to take into consideration the fuel type, engine size and age of vehicle when considering fuel economy for a vehicle.

The Fiat Marea was available as 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearboxes. Which gearbox did you have and how did you rate its performance? We have a section of our website dedicated to Fiat gearbox parts where you can find your Marea gearbox parts at great prices.
