Overview

The Jeep Commander is a mid-sized SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) which was produced by the Jeep division of the American automobile manufacturing company Chrysler LLC. This vehicle is closely related to the Jeep Grand Cherokee and is a 7 seater vehicle which was only in production from 2006-2010. This is a bulk of a vehicle which has really good performance and is a very capable off road vehicle. It has very box like styling which also makes it very spacious and comfortable inside. It is also a very reliable vehicle which is well equipped and has good safety features. The 3.0L diesel engine is only available in certain markets, including Europe and South Africa. It does not have the best handling and costs a lot to run. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Commander?

History

The Jeep Commander was introduced in 2006 and only remained in production until 2010. This vehicle was built on the SK platform and is closely related to the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It has a lot more of a box shaped design than the Grand Cherokee and the third row of seats are mounted higher than the rest, with the roof slightly raised at the rear to accommodate this. This raised roof is hidden by the roof rack, which follows a design feature of GMC and Chevrolet vehicles. In 2010 Chrysler decided that the Dodge name will be used for all vehicles with 7 seats, which meant that the Commander ceased production that year. The Dodge Durango replaced the Commander in 2011.
