Mazda Eunos Roadster Overview
The Mazda Eunos Roadster is classed as a roadster car and is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Mazda. This vehicle has been in production since 1989 over three generations and is only known under this name in on the Japanese market, being known as the MX-5 elsewhere. These cars are the best selling convertible sports cars in history which gives you an indication of the popularity of these cars. They are cheap to buy and are very stylish looking little cars. They are great to drive, handle really well and are very reliable. They might not be that well refined and lack safety features in the bottom models, but these cars are well worth the money. Does this sound like your experience of the Eunos Roadster?
Mazda Eunos Roadster History
The first generation (1990-98) Eunos Roadster was known under the NA production code and was available in convertible as well as hard top versions. This version was easily identifiable due to its pop up headlights. The first generation had a 1.6L engine and 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. An optional automatic gearbox was never very popular on this car. In 1994 the 1.8L engine was introduced when this car had a mild facelift.
The second generation NB (1998-2005) was slightly larger than the previous version, taking some of the design features from the Mazda RX-7. The now familiar pop-up headlights were not used on this version and this version was more aerodynamic than the previous version. This car had a facelift in 2001.
The third generation NC (2005-present) had a totally new design, sharing hardly any features from the NB model and looking more like the original design. This is the current version on the market.
There have been three different engines available for the Mazda Eunos Roadster: 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0L petrol engines. The best you will get in terms of fuel economy is around 40mpg. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically? Remember to consider the fuel type, engine size and age of vehicle when thinking fuel economy.
