Nissan Interstar Overview
The Nissan Interstar is classed as a large panel van which was produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Nissan. The Interstar was in production from 1997 to 2010 and was part of a joint venture between Nissan, Renault and Vauxhall/Opel. The Renault version was known as the Master and the Vauxhall/Opel version as the Movano. These vans are very competitive, especially the facelifted version from 2003. They are well built, good to drive and able to compete with the likes of the Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter. The cabin is spacious, comfortable and there are several different versions available, with the option of customising to suit individual customer needs. They handle well and the good diesel engines means they are both economical and good performers. Does any of the above sound like your experience of this vehicle?
Nissan Interstar History
The Nissan Interstar was introduced in 1997 and is almost identical to the second generation Renault Master. The Vauxhall/Opel Movano is also the same vehicle, but with some minor in house alterations. There was a partnership with Renault and Opel/Vauxhall at this time and Renault had an alliance with Nissan, which led to the creation of these vans.
In 2003 the Interstar had a mid-life makeover which mainly affected the design of the front end, especially the headlight design. The Interstar ceased production in 2010.
The Nissan Interstar is available in 1.9, 2.2, 2.5, 2.8 or 3.0L diesel engines. The smaller diesel engines are the more economical, offering around 39mpg which is really good for a panel van. Which engine do you have and how does it perform economically? Think about the age, fuel type and engine size of the vehicle when considering the fuel economy of a vehicle.
The Nissan Interstar was available with the following gearboxes: 5 or 6 speed manual and 6 speed quickshift semi-automatic. You can have a look at the Nissan gearbox section of our website to check for your Interstar gearbox parts.
