Toyota Estima Overview

The Toyota Estima is classed as a large MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) and is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturing company Toyota. This vehicle is more commonly known as the Toyota Previa across Europe and most other worldwide markets. The Estima name is used in Japan and for export versions of this vehicle. It is also known as the Toyota Tarago in Australia. The Estima is a very sought after MPV and is one of the top of the range for these vehicles. They are very practical, reliable, well-equipped and handle really well. They have great safety features, are extremely comfortable and they hold their value when re-sold. The only thing is that they are very expensive to buy. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Estima?

Toyota Estima History

The first generation (1990-2000) Toyota Estima was available in both rear wheel and all wheel drive. It had a unique mid mounted engine which meant easy access to certain parts of the engine for maintenance and even weight distribution. This was either available as a 7 or 8 seater.

The second generation (2000-06) was no longer rear wheel drive but instead went for a front wheel drive system. This version was slightly longer and also narrower than its predecessor. This version had sliding doors on both sides unlike its predecessor which only had a sliding door on one side.

The third generation (2006-present) has a much more modern and space age look to it, and also has some improved technological features. This version was not available in Europe.
