Audi 200 Overview

The Audi 200 is a mid-sized luxury car and is produced by the German car manufacturing company, Audi which is part of the Volkswagen Group. This model was introduced by Audi as a more luxurious and upgraded version of the Audi 100. It was first introduced in 1976 on the C2 design platform. It was not a replacement for the Audi 100 model but ran along side it as an upgrade model. This version was named the Audi 5000 in the US. This is seen as a luxurious car, good to drive, very spacious inside and well built.

Audi 200 History

The Audi 200 was introduced in 1976 under the C2 design platform (1976-82). There is not a great deal of difference between this car and the Audi 100, but this has many more features than the 100 version. The 200 is available in both Sedan and Estate, and was available in 2 different engine sizes. As this was the more luxurious version of the 100 and 200 range then it’s obviously a bit more expensive.

The C3 (1982-91) design platform took on a more aerodynamic look which helped with the fuel economy and became a strong selling point. This positive aspect was grasped by critics and the media which helped improve on the low sales of the last model. There were many variations of this version, before it ceased production and was discontinued at this stage.

Fuel Economy

This vehicle is built more for performance than fuel economy, as can be seen from the above engine sizes. For the size of engines, this range has a not to bad economical value due to the later aerodynamic design. Compared with some similar vehicles from other manufacturers, this is not a bad option, but this car can guzzle the petrol if you are not careful.

Transmission

The gearboxes available are the 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual. There is a section for Audi gearboxes if you want to have a look for your gearbox parts.
