Honda Odyssey Overview

The Honda Odyssey is a mini van in the compact MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) class. It is produced by the Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda. This vehicle has been in production since 1994 and was sold on the world market in many different countries. In Europe the earlier versions of this vehicle was known as the Honda Shuttle. The first generation Odyssey was not designed that well, but since then it is seen as having a spacious interior, reliable, great choice of family vehicle being one of the top choices available for a minivan.

Honda Odyssey History

The first generation (1994-99) was originally sold in the Japanese and American markets. It also offered a 4x4 version, but the engines used weren’t enough to power this vehicle when full of people or cargo. The fold down third row of seats could fold down flat which was to be a massive selling point over the years.

The second generation (1994-2004) and offered a new V6 engine which its competitors had been using for years. It also introduced the side sliding door, getting rid of the standard doors. This became one of the most popular selling minivans.

The third generation (2005-10) changed the appearance of the Odyssey, looking more like a people carrier that people were familiar with. It had a bit of an exterior makeover in 2008.

The fourth generation (2011 - present) is the current version on the market and had a real makeover changing many aspects of the vehicle. It became more stylish, more inside room, more economical amongst other aspects of change.

This vehicle is only available in an automatic transmission. There have been 4 and 5 speed automatic gearboxes available through the different generation models. There is a Honda gearbox section on our website for all gearbox related parts.
