About Towing Eye
The Mondeo Ford towing eye is attached to a vehicle at either the front or the rear, and functions as a place to securely attach a rope to the vehicle so that it can be towed.
The towing eye is commonly made of steel and is basically a solid ring or hook which is usually bolted on to the bottom of the chassis.
To help keep the towbar clean and grease free, while also protecting it from the weather, the towing eye can be fitted with a towing eye cover. This helps to extend the life of the Mondeo Ford towing eye which means it will perform well for longer. The cover also serves to make the overall look of the car sleeker and more aesthetically pleasing.
If the towing eye is damaged in an accident, for example, or has simply rusted and is no longer functional, it's advisable to buy a new or replacement part that has been manufactured to fit the make, model and year of your vehicle.
Ford Mondeo trivia
- We know it as the Mondeo, but in other countries, the car is called the Contour, the Fusion, or the Mercury Mystique. Incidentally, the word Mondeo comes from the Latin word for World!

- The UK government website, yougov.co.uk, claims that the Ford Mondeo is the 44th most popular car in the UK and the 12th most famous. The site also claims that the car is most popular with millennials and baby boomers and that more males prefer the Mondeo than females.
- The Ford Mondeo did not do well in the US, despite some mad promotions (including a drive from London to New York via the Bering Strait). - The Mondeo ST24 comes with a 2.5-litre Duratec V6 engine. It can get from 0-62mph in only 8 seconds, which might seem a bit excessive for a family car but proved ideal for those families that wanted some serious performance specs.
