Find Replacement Aircon Pulley Parts

The car's air conditioning system works to condition the air, which means while cooling the air in the car down, it also helps to ensure there isn't too much moisture in the car, so it stops the air getting too humid. The car's air conditioning unit also cleans the air in the car by filtering the dust and other particles from the air inside the car.

The aircon pulley  is part of the system that powers the aircon compressor, a vital part of the car's aircon system, and enables it to do its job. The car's aircon compressor is what pumps the refrigerant gas around the closed loop air conditioning system and works using an electric clutch and pulley system. Usually made from cast iron or alloy metal, the  aircon pulley can be found at the front of the aircon compressor. The aircon pulley fixes to the aircon compressor, which,  along with the clutch, turns the compressor on and off as and when cool air is needed.

The electronic clutch lets the pulley spin around when the aircon unit is not in use, but, when the aircon compressor is activated by the aircon switch, the clutch connects and the aircon pulley then powers the aircon compressor.

If you detect a rattling, grinding, screeching or howling type noise coming from the aircon compressor it is possible you have a problem with the aircon pulley, perhaps an issue  with the pulley bearing, which wear out eventually. You may also notice the aircon pulley wobbling when the car engine is running, which is a further indication that the aircon pulley could need replacing. If the aircon pulley fails and you have established that this is the only problem with the aircon compressor, then the cheap and relatively easy option is to replace just the aircon pulley and not the entire aircon compressor. If the aircon pulley freezes and stops working altogether, this can damage the serpentine belt which powers the system.  The serpentine belt also powers the car's cooling and charging units, so if there is a problem with this part, it's important to replace the aircon pulley as soon as possible to avoid any other damage.
