Request a partModern cars have sophisticated and complex security systems designed to project the vehicle from theft. These systems are controlled by an ECU (electronic control unit) which is part of the cars computer system.
Increasingly criminals are able to override the factory fitted electronic security systems, and police and motoring organisations are encouraging motorists to revisit tried and tested security products such as the security steering lock.
There are many different security steering wheel lock and key systems available on the market, although they all function in a similar way. The security mechanism is locked onto the cars steering wheel making it impossible to rotate and therefore steer the vehicle.
Other similar security systems are available for handbrake and gear stick making it difficult to move the vehicle and therefore deterring potential car theft.
Most security steering lock systems come with 2 or 3 keys and a unique code that should allow purchase of additional keys if required.
