High Oil Pressure

On the diesel versions of the Megane you might notice that your car may have started to experience severely reduced performance with the DPF light becoming illuminated on your dashboard. The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) is responsible for reducing emissions in the exhaust system, and if you do a lot of driving around towns or cities then it does not get hot enough to burn off the harmful particulates.
Solution:
Firstly, driving at a constant speed while keeping the car in third gear for around 10 minutes can help to heat up the DPF filter and burn off the particulates, which will make the warning light turn off on the dashboard. If this does not work you will need to replace the DPF filter, which means you will also need to replace the oil and oil filter at the same time.

If you have noticed that some of the speed settings on your heating dial are not working then it is likely that you have a faulty heater resistor on your Megane.

Problem:

Shredded Cam Belt
Problem:
When the cambelt is being shredded, it will mean a loss of compression and potential for bent exhaust valves.
Solution:
Normally, this is only a problem that you'll find with the Megane Estate 1.5 diesel 08 plates. You'll need to buy a cambelt kit, as well as a water pump and new exhaust valves. In some cases, the problem will occur again, which is an indication that your tensioner is running out of line or there is belt over-tensioning.
