Crank Seal Electrical Information
An electrical crank seal for an internal combustion engine comprises of a die cast metal carrier with a lipped ring of polymeric material which is fastened to the carrier by means of a support piece of sheet metal. The support piece is defined by a radially outwardly projecting flange section, which is being held in an axially open recess of the carrier and being provided on the side facing axially away from the carrier with at least one axially protruding sealing lip.A kit of tooling components for use in facilitating the removal as well as the installation of a electrical crank seal includes a housing assembly which is constructed and arranged for attachment to a electrical crank seal during the removal procedure and for pushing the electrical crank seal into position during the installation procedure. The kit further includes a guide pin which is constructed and arranged for insertion through the crankshaft seal and into one of the crank seal mounting holes in order to establish proper alignment for the crank seal as it is pulled off during the removal procedure and as it is pushed on during the installation procedure.
Sealed electrical crank seal phase change device
A device for varying the angular phase relation between an electrical crank seal and an electrical crank seal in response to axial displacement of an advancing plate drivingly connected to a support via straight spleens and a drive via angled spleens. The support is fixed to an end of the camshaft for rotation therewith. The drive is journeyed on the support and is driven by and in phase with the crankshaft. The advancing plate is also threadably connected to a drum via threads and the axial displacement is effected by relative rotation between the plate and the drum. A clock spring reacting between the support and drum tends to rotate the drum faster than the plate for positioning the plate in a first limit position.
