A Headlamp Surround has a retainer for maintaining a headlamp unit in an adjustable support bracket and having a rim that provides an aiming surface for the aiming pads of the headlamp unit. The Headlamp Surround support brackets carries spring means which engages a rear portion of the Headlamp Surround and biases the aiming pads of the headlamp unit into engagement with the rim with the result that when a replacement lamp unit is mounted in the support bracket, the replacement lamp unit is automatically aimed by the retainer.

A Headlamp Surround support housing for a vehicle includes a pair of pivotally interconnected ring members adjustable about a pair of mutually perpendicular pivot axes by a pair of vertically oriented adjustment screws. These are located to the rear of the headlamp and within the peripheral confines of the headlamp lens.

The first lamp support at the front end of the lamp is connected to the lamp housing, with the first lead connection for the lamp is then coupled via a high potential conductor embedded in the lamp housing. The high potential conductor embedded in the lamp housing is fed through a ballast cavity within the lamp housing. The ballast is there to protect the conductor. The second lamp lead goes through a second lamp support at the rear of the lamp housing which then connects up to the ballast. The lamp capsule, high potential conductors, and ballast are all enclosed as a single secure unit. This prevents any potential leakage between the elements and the outside.
