About Wiring Loom

The Focus Ford Wiring Loom is a set of wires strapped together designed to begin and terminate at specific points in the vehicle. The loom is rather like the London Underground Map with different coloured wires running from one point in the vehicle to another. During manufacture these looms are premade with the wires strapped together and shaped to run a certain route through the car's structure. The looms can be separate pieces that connect at junction points.

These looms run through channeling in the car body, under carpets behind roof lining and behind the car dashboard. These connect the electrical power required for the functioning of the engine, and all equipment requiring electrical power.

Faults can occur in the Focus Ford Wiring Loom due to short circuiting, over heating, fire damage or crash damage.

Ford Focus trivia

  • The first Focus World Rally Car was entered into the 1999 Monte Carlo Rally, with Colin McRae and Simon Jean-Joseph behind the wheel of two specially designed cars. Unfortunately, the Focus was found to have a water pump that was not allowed, and the Focus team was excluded from the event (although they returned for the Safari Rally later that year and won).
  • Although the total number of Ford vehicles owned in the UK has dropped slightly since its peak in 2013, there are still 1.2 million Ford Focus cars that are registered in the country. That makes it one of the most popular cars in Britain.
  • Jeremey Clarkson owns a lot of cars. However, he regularly mentions that his favourite is the Ford Focus.
  • One of the most famous users of a Focus is Pope Francis, who chose not to use the now-classic Popemobile and opted for a Ford Focus instead. The blue model has the SCV 00919 registration number.
  • One of the later versions of the Ford Focus, the ST, was designed using the engine of a Mustang.
