About Cowl Top Panels
Certain car parts exist to protect the vehicle against damage from external sources. An important component to protect the engine and other mechanical parts under the bonnet is the Peugeot cowl top panel. Items of debris such as leaves, dirt and twigs can cause considerable damage to these expensive parts and the cowl top panel provides an invaluable shield.
The Peugeot cowl top panel is situated at the base of the windscreen, close to where the windscreen wipers are attached to the car. It is generally made from plastic and has grilles to permit ventilation but keep unwanted debris out.
If a Peugeot cowl top panel is damaged it loses its effectiveness as a shield and will need to be replaced. Fortunately, most motor accessory dealers stock replacement cowl top panels for all popular models of motor vehicle.
A replacement Peugeot cowl top panel is an inexpensive accessory which is also easy to fit. In light of the significant damage that can be done to the important equipment that is housed beneath the bonnet of a car through having a defective Peugeot cowl top panel, it is sensible to keep a check on its condition and, in the event of any problem, to immediately seek a replacement part.
Peugeot trivia
- It's a dubious claim to fame, but the first recorded stolen car was a Peugeot! The car, belonging to Baron de Zuylen, was nicked by his mechanic in 1896, but the thief was caught, and the car returned to its rightful owner.
- Peugeot has won the European Car of the Year an incredible five times. The earliest win was in 1969, and the latest was as recently as 2017 (the Peugeot 3008).
- Peugeots, especially the 504, are incredibly popular in Africa and have been affectionately called Africa's workhorse. The 504 is a model that seems particularly well-suited to the rough terrains of Kenya and Ghana.
- It was Armand Peugeot who turned the company into car manufacturing. He called the company the Société des Automobiles Peugeot (Peugeot Automotive Society) and was the one who approved the famous lion emblem that is still used today.
- It was also in 1913 (some might say because of the Indy 500 win) that Peugeot were responsible for the production of half of all of the cars in France. That quickly made them one of the world's biggest names in the automotive industry.
