Peugeot have revived and edited a video advert from 1984 to celebrate 30 years of the Peugeot 205 GTI.
The 205 GTI was the original hot hatch for Peugeot but in the new version of the 1984 advert, they have used the latest version of the 208 GTI.
The original video was never screened in the UK, and this showed a 205 GTI driving down the slopes of a snow filled mountain dodging bombs being thrown down from a plane. The new mainly computer generated version of the 30th celebration video has tried to keep it as much like the original as possible, even to the point of the driver looking almost identical to the original driver.
The advert begins with the original 205 GTI advert from 30 years ago then the 208 GTI comes speeding in, taking over the video. It was a joint production between two agencies: BETC and Havas Dusseldorf. It was produced by the production company WIZZ and directed by the Andys. This advert is well worth a watch.
The 208 GTI used has a contrasting black and red paint job, black at the front and red at the rear. This vehicle is fitted with the Peugeot 1.6L four cylinder turbo petrol engine with 197bhp coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.
