High Clutch Biting Point
Problem:
The clutch now has a much higher biting point than before.

Steering Vibration (3.0-Ltr Models)
Problem:
When you apply the brakes while driving at high speed, you can feel excessive vibrations throughout the car.
Solution:
The front brake discs on larger versions of the Spider are very durable, but they can occasionally warp. Check your discs, and if they are warped, you can have them remachined—although this may reduce braking performance over time. It's better to simply order new brake discs, which will be more durable and can be delivered when you order through us.

The engine has begun misfiring and might not start at all. If it does start, you will hear a squealing sound.
Solution:
Alfa Romeo states that the cambelt on the Spider should be replaced every 72,000 miles (or every six years), but most owners report they need to be replaced after 36,000 miles (or three years). Although this is a considerable job, there are numerous online guides available, and we always keep cambelts for the Spider in stock for quick ordering and delivery.

Problem:
The engine has begun to sputter, and overall engine performance has declined. You may also hear a metallic sound and see sooty exhaust smoke.

Cracked brake pipes
Problem:
If you notice that the brake pipes are cracked or split, this is quite common on this car. If they are cracked or split, brake fluid is likely to be leaking onto the ground.
Solution:
You will need to replace the brake pipes to resolve the problem. You will also need to top up the brake fluid.
Difficulty level
High oil consumption
Problem:
The Spider is known for its very high oil consumption. You should regularly check the oil levels, ensuring they stay between the MIN and MAX marks on the dipstick. If the oil levels become too low, it can cause damage to the crankshaft and other engine parts.
Solution:
As mentioned above, you will need to regularly check the oil levels and top up the oil when necessary to prevent damage to any engine parts.

Cold start engine noise
Problem:
Can you hear a loud clattering noise from the engine when starting the car from cold? This issue occurs in petrol cars, making them sound more like a diesel on start-up. It is caused by a failure of the timing variator. Is the video below similar to your problem?
Solution:
Fitting a replacement timing variator will resolve the issue. Although it can be an expensive part to replace, we can assist you in finding a replacement timing variator at a very low price.
