Aston Martin DB9 Common Problems and Solutions
Rattle From Front End
Problem:
You can hear a rattling noise coming from the front of the car while driving.
Solution:
One of the recalls for the DB9 involves a rattling sound coming from the subframe mounting bushes and the anti-roll bar bushes. You will only need to replace the bushes rather than the entire subframe and anti-roll bar, and you can easily find the relevant bushes in our online store.

Problem:
The SatNav has stopped working, even though the screen still turns on.
Solution:
This should only occur after you've owned the DB9 for a few years, but the SatNav is well known for wearing out prematurely. You can order a new SatNav from our parts page for the DB9, and it is an easy installation.

Parking Brake is loose
Problem:
You're having to pull the parking lever higher and higher to engage it.
Solution:
This caused a recall by Aston Martin, so it should only affect your DB9 if the work hasn't already been done. If you're experiencing issues with the parking lever, you can disassemble it and tighten the cable, but in most cases, a new parking brake unit will be required, which we always have available to order.

AC Failure
Problem:
The air conditioning is weakening and might stop functioning entirely.
Solution:
This is one of the most common issues reported by DB9 owners, so it's worth keeping an eye on. If it begins to wear out, you can find a new air conditioning system in the BreakerYard store, and although it's a tricky system to install, it's simpler than on other luxury car makes.

Broken Stereo
Problem:
The Linn stereo has ceased functioning.
Solution:
Unfortunately, the Linn stereo in the DB9 is very impressive, but it is known to fail quite quickly in some models. It's not something that you can repair either, and you'll need to order a replacement from our parts list.

Hot Seats
Problem:
One or all of the seats are getting hotter and hotter when the seat warmer is turned on.
Solution:
This issue is caused by a faulty seat heater ECU. Not only can this lead to burns on the occupants seated, but it can also cause a fire. In some cases, once the seat warmer has been activated, it may not be possible to turn it off. You will need to replace the electronic control module for the seat heaters, but we always have these replacements available to order.

Loss Of Steering Control
Problem:
You are losing steering control, and it is worsening the more you drive.
Solution:
Only affecting a few cars manufactured between 2007 and 2008, this issue is caused by a cracked front bottom arm cam bolt, which allows the suspension to move more than it should. You will need to find a complete front lower control arm in our store to fix the problem, but the installation is relatively straightforward.

Car Suddenly Goes Into Idle When Driving
Problem:
You're driving as usual when the car suddenly drops into idle. This could cause an accident if you're on a busy road or motorway.
Solution:
The accelerator arm on some DB9s can weaken very quickly and may break unexpectedly. It's advisable to replace the pedal arm even if you haven't experienced this issue, and you can order a new accelerator pedal arm from our parts list.

Door Lock Malfunction
Problem:
The car doors cannot be opened from the inside once they have been locked from the outside.
Solution:
This only affects DB9s manufactured between 2010 and 2012, and even then, not every car will be affected. If your DB9 is impacted, you'll need to order a new set of door lock mechanisms from the BreakerYard store and fit the new locks on all affected doors.
