Audi R8 Coupe Common Problems and Solutions
Suspension problems
Problem:
It has been known for there to be suspension problems on the R8, notably shock absorber failure.
Solution:
If your shock absorbers are broken, you will need to replace them, in order to fix the problem.
Difficulty level
Boot hinge problems
Problem:
If you are noticing that the boot hinges are seizing up, or are bent, this seems to be a common issue on the R8.
Solution:
It is recommended that you keep the hinges well oiled, so as to help them from seizing up. If they have already seized up, which leads to them bending, you will need to fit replacement hinges, in order to resolve the issue.

Heavy oil consumption
Problem:
The R8 is known for consuming a lot of engine oil, particularly when new. This is a problem on several Audi vehicles, as can be seen from the video below:
Solution:
You must keep a regular check on the oil levels, as low oil levels will have detrimental effects on the engine. It is recommended that you keep the oil level at least half way between the Min and Max marks on your dipstick, and carry some spare oil in the boot, in case you need to top up.

MMI (Multi Media Control Unit) Problems
Problem:
It is known for the MMI to fail on these cars. There are a number of different things that can go wrong with this complex device, from software to hardware failure. However, the software issues seem to be the most common failures.
Solution:
As mentioned above, the most common failure is software issues, and to fix this, you will need to take the car into a dealer, to give the MMI a software update.
