Automatic gearbox problems
Problem:
Are the gear changes on the automatic gearbox poor? Is the car surging? Are you having delays in the acceleration, instead of accelerating smoothly. This can mean that the clutch is slipping and the gearbox needs rebuilding.
Solution:

Steering problems
Problem:
Have you noticed that the steering is wandering to one side, instead of staying in a straight line? Has the steering become vague and poor on your car? If yes to one, or both of the above questions, than you have a problem with the power steering box.
Solution:
Replacing the power steering box will fix the issue.

Exhaust rattling
Problem:
Can you hear a rattling noise coming from the exhaust? If this seems to be most noticeable when the engine is cold, these are warning signs that the exhaust and possibly even the catalytic converter are about to fail.
Solution:
You will need to replace the exhaust and maybe even the catalytic converter, in order to sort the problem.

V8 engine problem
Problem:
The V8 engine of the 8-Series has known problems with the engine misfiring and poor running. The engine should be having a consistent idle, but when misfiring the rev needle instead jumps up and down . This is caused by the Nikasil engine block, suffering from bore wear. This can mean that some new pistons and a new block are required, which can be very expensive. This is a well known problem on this car.
Solution:
