BMW Z4 Roadster Common Problems and Solutions
Leaks into boot
Problem:
On earlier models of the second generation, there are known problems with a poorly designed rear bumper vent. This allows water to leak into the boot and could potentially damage some of the various electric modules that are stored in the boot. If you have noticed dampness, or wet patches in the boot, this is the most likely cause.
Solution:
BMW should fix this issue under warranty and fit a modified bumper vent.

Broken hood mechanism
Problem:
On the second generation (2009-present) Roadster, the folding roof mechanism is stored in the boot, which needs to be emptied, in order to allow the roof to fold in. This mechanism has a plastic moulding, which is easily damaged, especially if there is anything left in the boot when trying to fold down the roof. The most likely damage will be a crack in this moulding.
Solution:
If the plastic moulding is damaged, you will need to fit a replacement moulding, in order to fix the problem.
