BMW Z8 Common Problems and Solutions
Fogging headlamps
Problem:
There is a common problem with the headlamps on the Z8 fogging up. This can reduce the visibility of the headlights.
Solution:
Rather than buying new ones, which can be quite expensive, you can drill a small hole at the top and bottom of the headlamps. Try drilling the hole at the bottom first, to allow any moisture out the lens to get out. If this does not clear it up, drill a small hole at the top of the lens and pour in some cleaning solvent, or some de-scaling agent, which will clear the fog. You might want to bung up the holes at the bottom, until the cleaning solvent does its job and then remove the bung, in order to allow the liquid to drain out. This should sort your problem.

Cam position sensor failure
Problem:
The cam position sensor is known for failing on the Z8. If this part fails, you will most likely see the engine management warning light appear on the dashboard and the camshaft will be locked in an average position, meaning that the engine will not run at optimum performance.
Solution:
Run a diagnostic check, to correctly identify if it is the camshaft sensor at fault. Fitting a replacement camshaft sensor will resolve the issue.

Intermittent starting problems
Problem:
Are you having any difficulties starting your Z8? Can you just hear a clicking noise, when pressing the start button? Does it take a few attempts to start the car? If yes to any, or all of the above questions, this is an indication that the starter motor is failing.
