First generation Citroen Grand C4 Picasso (2006 - 2013)
Launched in November 2006 the Grand C4 Picasso is the seven seater version of the C4 Picasso, which was originally offered as an upmarket version of the Citroen Xsara Picasso until it was discontinued in 2009. The Grand C4 Picasso is an MPV that''s designed with large families in mind: it''s a little bit bigger than its competitors the Mazda5 and Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.
The driver is well catered for with a large panoramic windscreen and thin door pillars that increase the driver''s field of vision, get rid of blind spots and give the front cabin a light and airy feel. The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso offers a capacious 500 litre boot capacity so there''s plenty of room for luggage. If you don''t need the space for passengers you can fold down the rear seats and gain an extra 1,500 litres of cargo space.
The first generation Citroen Grand C4 Picasso came with a huge range of trim levels from the basic Attraction to the top spec Exclusive and sporty VTR+. For a smoother ride, buyers could opt for pneumatic rear suspension. The Grand C4 Picasso is a safe car with a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, helped by its many airbags.
Transmissions
There have been a range of transmissions offered throughout the years. Alongside the regular manual and automatic gearboxes some models have a six-speed ETG gearbox. ETG stands for efficient tronic gearbox, and it allows drivers to switch between manual and automatic whenever they wish. Grand C4 Picassos with this transmission feature a cooled storage compartment with can holders between driver''s and front passenger''s seats where the manual transmission gear lever would be.
Engines
The first Citroen Grand C4 Picasso was available with a number of engines; petrol engines from 1.6l to 2.0l and 122 PS to 145 PS, and diesel engines also ranging from 1.6l to 2.0l in size with a power output of between 91 PS to 162 PS.
Second generation Citroen Grand C4 Picasso (2013 - Present)
The new Citroen Grand C4 Picasso was first shown to the automotive press at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013 as the Citroen Technospace concept. It''s built on the latest PSA EMP2 platform, which it shares with the Peugeot 308.
With the longest wheelbase in its class, the Citroen boasts a 537-litre boot capacity yet it can transport seven occupants comfortably. It has an uncluttered cabin, panoramic windscreen and large glass roof, all of which Citroen says gives it a lofty feel. The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso features innovative technology that promises a more relaxed drive.
The latest Citroen Grand C4 Picasso has been well received by critics and has won multiple accolades including TopGear Magazine''s Family Car of the Year 2013 and WhatCar? MPV of the Year 2014.
