Citroen Nemo Multispace Common Problems and Solutions
Slow To Brake
Problem:
It is taking a long time for the vehicle to come to a complete stop.
Solution:
The Nemo Multispace is quite heavy, so the brake pads and discs will wear out more often than on lighter cars. This is very normal and simply means you'll need to order brake pads and/or discs from BreakerYard and replace the worn ones.

Excessive Vibration When Steering
Problem:
The car vibrates excessively while driving, and there may be occasional popping or banging noises when driving over bumps.
Solution:
The Nemo Multispace is known for a common issue with the front suspension top bearing, which is very likely to wear out quickly. We always stock replacements, and you can easily fit them yourself.

Non-Starting
Problem:
The car does not start when you turn the key to the 'on' position, and there is no sound either.
Solution:
This could be caused by a low or dead battery, so check the charge. If your battery is alright, then examine the connection between the battery and the starter motor, which might have come loose. If there are no issues there either, then it's likely that the solenoid attached to the top of the starter motor has failed, and you'll need to find a replacement on our parts list.

Dashboard Lights Aren't Working
Problem:
None of the lights on the dashboard are functioning.
Solution:
It's very likely that there's a problem with the battery. Check the connections between the battery and the electrical system carefully and ensure everything is properly connected. The battery terminals should also be secure. If everything appears fine, then your battery is probably nearing the end of its lifespan, and you will need to order a replacement from us.

Automatic gearbox problems
Problem:
The automatic gearboxes on the Nemo have known issues. These issues include poor gear changes that are not very smooth and do not align well with the revs. The actuator is the known part that tends to fail on these gearboxes.
Solution:
Replacing the actuator should fix the problem.

Power steering failure
Problem:
The Citroen Nemo has fully electric power steering, which is prone to failure. If you notice that the steering becomes very heavy while driving, then the power steering motor is known to fail.
Solution:
Replacing the power steering motor should fix the issue. While this can be a costly part to replace, Breakeryard can assist in finding an affordable replacement.

Clunking noise from engine
Problem:
A common problem on the Nemo is hearing a clunking noise from the engine when starting or stopping. You might also hear this noise when changing gear while driving. These issues indicate faulty engine mounts.
Solution:
You will need to lift the engine to access the engine mounts. If they are cracked or broken, you must replace the engine mounts to resolve the issue.

Loss of power
Problem:
If you notice that your vehicle is losing power and you might hear a whistling noise coming from the top of the engine, these are signs of a turbo problem. The Nemo is known to have issues with the turbo seal blowing. This can cause a leak and also produce black smoke from the exhaust. The video below shows symptoms of a blown turbo seal.
Solution:
Replacing the turbo seal should resolve the issue.
