Stiff Clutch Pedal
Problem:
The clutch pedal feels stiffer than usual. In some cases, it may even fall to the floor. Overall, changing gear is becoming harder.
Solution:
The clutch on the Fourtrak is very durable, but when it’s gone enough miles, it will wear out. Replacing a clutch is a big job that can take a lot of time, but there are guides available online that can take you through the process. Use those guides and order a new clutch assembly from our parts list to save yourself a huge garage bill.

Whining From Car Rear
Problem:
There is a loud whining sound coming from the back of the car.
Solution:
This is one of the most commonly reported issues for the Sportrak, but it’s a very easy fix. The whine is being caused by a lack of oil, causing the rear axle to struggle. Simply top up your oil levels, and the whine should go away.

Poor running
Problem:
If you have been experiencing any problems with poor running on your vehicle, it is most likely caused by a blocked throttle body. This gets clogged up with carbon, causing poor running and a lack of power. This can also cause poor engine idling.
Solution:
You can remove the throttle body and clean it out with some throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush. This should sort the problem.

Head gasket failure
Problem:
The engine on the Sportrak is known for overheating, and this is usually caused by a blown cylinder head gasket. There are a few different ways to check for a blown cylinder head gasket: white smoke coming from the exhaust; oil floating on top of the water, in the water reservoir, which is connected to the radiator; the engine overheating; and a white creamy substance on the inside of the oil filler cap. Have a look at the video below:
Solution:
If you find any, or all of the above symptoms, you will need to fit a replacement cylinder head gasket, in order to fix the problem.

Rear suspension springs failure
Problem:
The rear suspension springs are prone to failing on the Sportrak. If you have noticed that one side of the rear end of the vehicle appears slightly lower than the other, a broken rear spring is the most likely cause. Check under the wheel arch, to see if the spring is cracked, snapped or broken.
Solution:
You will need to replace the faulty rear suspension spring, in order to solve the problem. We want to help you to find a replacement suspension spring, at a very low price.

Rev Counter Malfunction
Problem:
The rev counter on your dash only works at certain revs.
Solution:
This could be a failed magnetic sensor on the fuel pump, which is easy to install, and we always have them available to order. However, it may be a simple case of a disconnected wire on the instrument cluster. Pop the wire back into place, and the rev counter should start working again.
