Honda Integra Common Problems and Solutions
Trouble With 3rd Gear
Problem:
All of your gears feel fine, but you sometimes can't move into 3rd gear or out of it.
Solution:
The third gear synchroniser on the Integra has a tendency to wear out far more quickly than the others. Luckily, installation is fairly easy, and the synchroniser that you need is always available to order from our parts page.

Noisy Clutch Pedal
Problem:
Your clutch is noisy when you press the pedal. It may start to chatter when you accelerate or feel spongy. It may even drop to the floor and become unusable.
Solution:
Your clutch assembly has broken. This can happen when you get to around 35,000-miles. Replacing a clutch is certainly a big job, but there are many online guides available, and a new clutch is much cheaper to buy from BreakerYard than to let a garage do it for you.

Water In Boot
Problem:
After rain or a carwash, there is water in the boot.
Solution:
Becoming more common to see, water ingress to the boot is usually caused by worn-out rear light seals. This can affect your rear lights eventually, so it's best to order some new light seals from our online parts list.
Difficulty level
Loose Gear Changes
Problem:
The gears don't feel very tight. Lots of drivers who report this issue refer to it as 'sloppy gears'.
Solution:
The excess play in your gears is usually caused by worn-out gear selector bushes. This is extremely common with the Integra, and most owners will have to deal with it at some point. Order new bushes from our parts page and easily install the new ones.
Difficulty level
Vibrating Steering Wheel
Problem:
You can feel the engine vibrating a lot when the engine is running. There may also be a clunking sound when you drive.
Solution:
This will usually be an age-related issue where your front lower arm control bushing has simply worn out. This can be a fiddly replacement job, but the bushings themselves are very low cost in our online store, and it's a job that really only needs a bit of patience.
Difficulty level
Extremely Loud Engine
Problem:
The engine is excessively noisy, and you can feel a vibration running through the car.
Solution:
The engine mounts on the Integra have been known to prematurely wear. That means your engine is moving around more than it should, and if you don't replace the mounting, then you're going to end up with severe engine damage. There is a range of different mounting options available on our parts list, depending on the level of stability you prefer.

Poor Fuel Economy
Problem:
You are using more and more fuel every time that you fill-up the tank. The check engine light may also come on.
Solution:
This is one of the most commonly reported faults with the Integra and is being caused by a faulty O2 sensor (also referred to as the lambda sensor). We always have new O2 sensors in stock so that ordering for delivery is very fast.

Window rattle
Problem:
It has been common on the Integra for the windows to rattle. This is due to a problem with a black rubber seal inside the door.
Solution:
You can remove the door panel with the window up and you will see this black rubber seal that has come off the window rail. If you use a bit of glue and attach the black rubber seal to the rail, this will stop the rattle.
Difficulty level
Engine misfiring or poor running
Problem:
If you are finding that your car is running very badly and loosing power, and possibly even the engine is misfiring, then you could have a problem with the fuel injectors or the fuel pressure regulator.
Solution:
You will need to correctly identify which part is causing the fault, and fit a replacement part to resolve the issue.

Gearbox problems
Problem:
It is not unusual for the Integra to have problems when changing from either 1st to 2nd or from 2nd to 3rd gear. If you are suffering from this problem you will notice a real grinding noise when changing from one of these gears to the other.
Solution:
The first thing to try is to run syncromesh fluid through the system, but if this doesn't seem to make much difference, you will need to replace the syncros which can be quite expensive. Try searching through our vast network of Breakers for great prices on replacement gearbox parts.
