Jeep Patriot Common Problems and Solutions

Tyre pressure warning light

Problem:

Has the tyre pressure warning light been appearing on your dashboard? Does this happen on cold mornings and it disappears when the vehicle warms up? If you answer yes to both of these questions, please note the tyre pressure sensors do not work very well in cold conditions.

Models affected:

Solution:

The tyre pressure reduces in colder weather, so you will want to keep a regular check on the pressure. You may need to put slightly more air in the tyres during colder weather. If this does not fix the problem, it could be that one of the sensors has been damaged and will need to be replaced.

Water leak

Problem:

If you are having a leak from the dome light in the rear of the vehicle, you are not alone. This is a very common problem on the Patriot and can be caused by the rear washer hose leaking, or from water leaking in through the rear mounted antenna. The rubber ring around the rear washer hose can work loose and cause a leak. Is the leak in this video anything like yours?

Models affected:

Solution:

You will need to apply some silicone sealant around the rear antenna to seal this area. For the rear washer hose problem you will need to make sure the rubber ring is tightly secured around the hose and apply some silicone sealer to properly seal it. This should stop the leaking.

Ball joints failing

Problem:

The ball joints on the Patriot are prone to failing. If you use the vehicle off-road regularly, then this can be a major cause of these parts failing early. Despite this, they are not of the greatest build quality. If you are hearing a knocking noise coming from the front suspension when you drive over speed bumps, or around corners then the ball joints will be the most likely cause.

Models affected:

Solution:

You will need to fit replacement ball joints to rectify the problem. We can help you find replacement ball joints at very low prices.
