Kia Pride Common Problems and Solutions
Engine Misfire
Problem:
The engine has started to misfire regularly, and there is an overall reduction in engine power. The check engine light may turn on, and you may start using more fuel than usual.
Solution:
This is nothing more than a clogged air filter. You may be able to clean it and resolve the problem. In most cases, you will need to order a new filter from our parts page for the Pride.

Overheating Engine
Problem:
The engine is overheating. There may be coolant on the floor where you’ve parked and white streaks on the radiator.
Solution:
This is extremely common on the Kia Pride and is due to a broken radiator cap. You can order a tougher and more durable cap direct from BreakerYard.

Sudden Power Loss
Problem:
The car is driving perfectly well but then suddenly loses all power. You have to stop the car and then restart it to resolve the issue.
Solution:
It could be that you have a small break in the windings of your coil pack. We always have coil packs available to order, which means quick delivery, and installation isn’t too challenging. However, in rare cases, sudden power loss could also be a sign that you have a fault with your ignition module or a cracked vacuum hose.

Solution:
If any of the interior trim is damaged, or cracked you will need to replace the broken trim to resolve the issue. We can help you find a replacement interior trim at a very low price.

Wheel bearing problems
Problem:
If you are hearing a droning/rumbling noise coming from the wheels as you drive around corners, it is most likely caused by a problem with the wheel bearings. This issue will also be most noticeable when driving at speeds over 30mph. On Kia cars this noise can be caused by the bearings being over tightened.
Solution:
The first thing to try is un-tightening the wheel bearings slightly to see if the noise stops, otherwise you will need to replace the wheel bearings to fix the problem.

Erratic engine idle
Problem:
Are you having problems with the engine idling erratically? The most common cause for this problem is either the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve), or the throttle body. The throttle body gets blocked up with a carbon build up and the same happens to the IACV, resulting in poor engine idling. This can also lead to problems with a lack of power when applying the accelerator.
Solution:
The first thing to try is to remove the IACV and give it a clean. If this fixes the problem you will not need to clean out the throttle body. If you need to clean the throttle body, you will need to remove it, clean it using some throttle body cleaner and a small brush (tooth brush). Watch the video below for an idea of how to clean the IACV:
