Kia Sportage Common Problems and Solutions
Non-Locking Seat Belts
Problem:
One or more of your seat belt buckles won't lock.
Solution:
Unfortunately, this isn't a problem that can be solved simply by replacing the buckles. You'll need to replace the entire seat belt assembly. While this can be a time-consuming task, it's not particularly difficult, and we always keep replacement seat belt assemblies in stock to order.

Noisy AC
Problem:
Your air conditioning has become very noisy.
Solution:
One of the most common faults reported on the Sportage is a noisy AC unit, which usually results from a defective AC compressor. Unfortunately, you won't be able to fix the problem by replacing just the compressor. You will need to replace the entire AC compressor clutch assembly, which is a fiddly task to do yourself but not too difficult. We always stock the clutch assemblies, ensuring very fast delivery times.

Check Engine Light
Problem:
The check engine light keeps flickering on and off randomly.
Solution:
The check engine light can come on for many reasons, but with the Sportage, it is often due to a leak at the intake ports. Check yours for any moisture and replace them with new ones from our parts list if there are obvious signs of leakage.

Engine Stalling
Problem:
The engine stalls while driving.
Solution:
This could be a faulty EGI control relay or a fuel pump that has become too worn. Most experts advise replacing both parts simultaneously to prevent the issue from recurring. You can order both of the necessary parts from BreakerYard.

Water leaking into front footwells
Problem:
If water leaks into the front footwells, it is most likely due to an issue with the bulkhead. This part is known for frequently failing, leading to water ingress into the footwells. Occasionally, the wells can become blocked with leaves and debris, causing water to enter the cabin.
Solution:
The bulkhead problem should be covered under warranty, but if you missed this because your warranty expired before the part began leaking, you are responsible for resolving the issue. Before purchasing a replacement bulkhead, check if it is blocked by leaves and debris. If you need a replacement, we can help you find one at a very low price.

Exhaust wear
Problem:
The exhaust system on the Sportage can experience early wear. If the exhaust begins to fail, you'll notice a loud rumbling noise coming from the rear of the vehicle.
Solution:
You will need to identify exactly which exhaust part has worn out, and once identified, fit a replacement to resolve the issue. We can assist you in finding the replacement exhaust parts you require at very low prices.
